The Bath Reflexology Centre will be hosting a two weekend specialist reflexology training course in fertility reflexology run by Barbara Scott and Nick Brunger.

  • Part 1 ~ 26th & 27th November 2011
  • Part 2 ~ 28th & 29th April 2012

Course details

Recent trainees have said about the new course in reflexology for fertility - known as Reproflexology™:

  • "A really excellent course - very well structured with practical session to back up the theory."
  • "This course was extremely informative and very professionally delivered whilst being friendly and approachable too."
  • "This course has been the most informative and thorough I have attended. It is difficult to suggest how it could be improved."
  • "I would thoroughly recommend this course to any reflexologist who is serious about helping couples with fertility problems."
  • "Overall the best course I have ever been on."

Have you ever wanted to help a client undergoing fertility treatment but had to refuse because your conventional reflexology training told you this was unwise and could endanger the success or efficacy of the medical intervention?

I was taught just that in my own training eighteen years ago. However, in practice I have found it was very difficult to deny treatment to clients at a time when they most needed the support of an experienced therapist.

Over the years I have made a detailed study of the subject and developed a range of techniques which I have applied to great effect in my own busy practice in Nottingham. Now, contrary to the advice I was given in training, I have come to believe that in the hands of an experienced practitioner, conventional fertility treatment can be greatly enhanced by the techniques I call Reproflexology™.

As you know, reflexology for fertility has become of more and more interest to people exploring their options in trying to conceive. Like me you you have probably experienced an increase in clients seeking help in this area.

However it can be a minefield of when to treat, what to treat, how to treat, and what realistic sensible advice can be given to clients. We all want to provide as much support and help as possible during what we know can be a difficult and potentially distressing time for our clients.

In addition there is also the thorny issue of working during IVF and IUI cycles - Is it safe? What should I do? How can I help? What is the process? And how can I work alongside the drugs that will be taken?

The Reproflexology™ course provides a wealth of information to enable you, as a practitioner, to be able to do just that. The techniques for reproductive reflexology have been developed over many years, and have proved to be effective and beneficial in improving outcomes, alleviating symptoms, and helping couples to improve their fertility.

The course is separated into two parts, running over two weekends with some case study work to do in between. Each weekend modules counts as 12 CPD points and you should be able to claim additional points for your case study work and any reading that you do.

Graduates of the course will be Seren Certified Reproflexology™ Practitioners. Once we have sufficient qualified practitioners across the UK, hopefully in 2010, we intend to advertise and promote their skills and expertise via national media.

The cost for the course is £210 per weekend and includes refreshments and the comprehensive course notes. Telephone and email support will also be available for those who have completed the course.

In response to demand we are running courses in a variety of locations, with more planned during 2010. If you would like to suggest a regional centre where we might run a course then please do not hesitate to make contact.

Part 1 of the course covers understanding the basic causes of fertility difficulties in both men and women, identifying ovulation, medical tests undertaken by clients, and how to work with fertility and sub fertility. This must by completed before embarking on the second weekend.
Part 2 focuses entirely on working with medicated cycles, IUI and IVF.

On the successful conclusion of each element of the course all students will receive an appropriate Certificate in Reproflexology™ which should count towards your Continuing Professional Development.

Jenni Grant - a very experienced teacher of maternity reflexology and a trained midwife writes:

Thank you Barbara for a tremendous course and cram packed with information. As a maternity reflexologist my knowledge and experience of pregnancy reflexology is fairly comprehensive but ever increasing and developing. However your fertility and reflexology techniques and programmes planned around the treatment cycles have given me much more confidence in this area which was previously regarded with fear and over caution.

I will be pleased to recommend your course to my students to spread the knowledge that with appropriate fertility training with Reproflexology™ this important and beneficial work will reach more and more potential parents. This will promote their fertility and ease their transition at a very important but stressful time in their lives as well as to improve the fertility rates and successful outcomes with such a natural and holistic approach complementary to allopathic medicine.

John Rhind, another recent course member told me:

As a male therapist dealing with fertility reflexology treatments already, I found the course both absorbing and relevant. I enjoyed Barbara's calm, unruffled presentation and learnt a lot from the four days. Doing the course in two split weekends allowed me to go away and practice the techniques learnt before the 'heavier' and more complex assisted conception programme. I would thoroughly recommend this course to any reflexologist who is serious about helping couples with fertility problems.

A more detailed note on the course content follows, but if you would like further information about the course, or would like to discuss whether it is right for you please do call me on 0115 8541708 or 07830 382912.

With best wishes,

Barbara Scott MBRA

Hand Reflexology - Saturday, 19th May 2012

The Bath Reflexology Centre is running a hand reflexology course for qualified reflexologists. The course is for one day running from 10am to 4:30pm and will be held on Saturday, 19th May 2012.

The course will cover:

  • Location of hand reflexes
  • The hand reflexology routine
  • Working imbalances
  • When you would use hand reflexology instead of foot reflexology
  • How to position yourself and your client
  • How to advise clients on using hand reflexology for self-help / top ups between treatments

No previous experience of hand reflexology is necessary. Many reflexologists will have learnt some hand reflexology during their inital training but have never used it due to a lack of confidence. This practical focussed course will give you the confidence you need to use hand reflexology to benefit your family and friends and also in your practice if you are a qualified reflexologist.

The cost of the course is £85 per person.
